At the 21st edition of Miss Nepal, Barsha Lekhi was crowned as Miss International Nepal 2016 and Roshani Khatri was titled as Miss Earth Nepal2016.
The newly crowned Miss Nepal 2016 (“The Hidden Treasures Miss Nepal”) will now serve as the Brand Ambassador of Fanta and WWF Nepal for one year during her reign. As the prize money Asmi Shrestha, Miss Nepal 2016 was also honoured with a sum of Rs. 100,000 for winning the Miss Nepal 2016 title. Miss Nepal was televised live via NTV & NTV PLUS.
This year 16 finalists competed to win the coveted crown of Miss Nepal 2016. They were- Anusha KC, Sajum Katuwal, Sachina Shrestha, Aayushma Shrestha, Roshani Khatri, Lazmee KC Pokharel, Soniya Sharma, Kushum Thapa Magar, Asmi Shrestha, Karuna Khadka, Sandipa Limbu, Barsha Lekhi, Nikita Shrestha, Ashma KC, Srijana Regmi, Prativa Dawadi, and Prerana Adhikari.
After the introduction round, the finalists were trimmed down to Top 11, who further competed in the Question and Answer Round. The Top 11 semi-finalists were:

- Barsha Lekhi
- Anusha KC
- Roshani Khatri
- Prerana Adhikari
- Sandipa Limbu
- Asmi Shrestha
- Soniya Sharma
- Namrata Shrestha
- Ashma KC
- Aayushma Shrestha
Thereafter the Miss Nepal 2016 semi-finalists were trimmed down to Top 5 finalists, which included-
- Namrata Shrestha
- Barsha Lekhi
- Roshani Khatri
- Asmi Shrestha

During the coronation night of Miss Nepal 2016 many special awards were also allocated to the contestants, amongst which following contestants emerged out as winners:
Miss Popular Choice- Aayushma Shrestha
Scholar of the Year- Prerna Adhikari
Best Evening Gown- Asmi Shrestha
Miss Confident- Roshani Khatri
Miss Personality- Roshani Khatri
Beauty with a Purpose- Prativa Dawadi
Miss Talent- Shrijana Regmi
Asmi Shrestha, Miss Nepal 2016 is the student of BBA at Ace Institute of Management, Nepal. She has walked at the ramp of several fashion shows like Trendsetters, Nepal Fashion week and Timeless Paragon Classic Diamond Fashion show. She is also the face of Classic Diamond 2014.
Nepal has been giving a decent performance at Miss World pageant. In Miss World 2012, Shristi Shrestha placed as a Top 30 quarter finalist and grabbed Top 10 position at Multimedia Award and Top 10 place at Miss World Beach Beauty. Thereafter, Nepal also won the “Beauty with a Purpose” segment at Miss World through Ishani Shrestha, who also placed as a top 10 finalist at Miss World 2013 and won 2nd runner up in Multimedia segment. Since its participation Nepal has placed twice at Miss World.
Also I saw updates at facebook last night and even today morning , updates on why a Newari girl is always crowned as Miss Nepal and similar questions related to this topic . It amazes me of how can some people think it is a caste based beauty pageant. At the end of the day, whether she is Newari , Chettri , Khatri , limbu or any of the other caste she is representing the entire country at the miss world 2016 making the entire Nepal proud . She will not be going as Miss Asmi Shrestha or miss Newari , she will be known to the world and introduced as Miss Nepal .So for the sake of a better world some viewers really need to make their thoughts organised and then comment something against the pagaent .
Anyway Nepal has the new " Miss Nepal " and I can't wait for her to make the entire Nepalese proud in the miss world pageant . All the best Asmi Shrestha .
